Brukunga Community Garden – Growing Together
The Brukunga Community Garden is more than just a place to grow fresh produce—it’s a hub of connection, sustainability, and shared learning. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, this space is for everyone to enjoy, get their hands in the soil, and be part of something meaningful.

A Place for Everyone
Nestled in the heart of Brukunga next to the Brukunga Community Hall at 12b Pyrites Rd, our garden is a welcoming space where community members can:
🌱 Grow their own fruit, veggies, and herbs
🌿 Learn about sustainable gardening and permaculture
👩🌾 Share knowledge, skills, and a love for fresh food
🤝 Connect with neighbors and build friendships

Supported by Wellbeing SA
The Brukunga Community Garden was made possible through funding from Wellbeing SA and with support from Mount Barker District Council, supporting the establishment of a vibrant, shared space that promotes physical and mental well-being. This grant helped us turn a very uninspiring piece of underutilised asphalt into a beautiful dedicated area for growing fresh produce, running educational workshops, and fostering social connections, ensuring that our community has access to a sustainable and enriching outdoor environment.
Join Us!
The Community Garden Group meets every Tuesday:
🕘 9:00 AM during daylight savings (10:00 AM during non-daylight savings times)
Everyone is welcome to pop along to these session or just utilise the garden 7 days a week during daylight hours—whether you’re keen to get your hands in the soil, learn new skills, or simply enjoy the space and good company.
Why It Matters
The Brukunga Community Garden isn’t just about growing food—it’s about growing resilience and community spirit. By working together, we:
✅ Promote sustainability and self-sufficiency
✅ Encourage outdoor activity and well-being
✅ Provide a space for learning and workshops
✅ Support local food security and reduce waste

Get Involved!
We’re always looking for more green thumbs (or even just willing hands!) to help nurture our garden. Whether you want to adopt a garden bed, join a working bee, or simply enjoy the space, you’re welcome!
