Brukunga Hall to Hub: Reviving Our Community Heart
The Brukunga Community Association Inc. (BCA) has been on an incredible journey, bringing new life to our town through community-led projects. At the heart of this revival is the Brukunga Hall to Hub Project—a transformation of our much-loved community hall into a vibrant, multifunctional space that serves as a true hub for locals.
Reviving Brukunga: A Community Rebuilt
After years of inactivity, the BCA was re-formed with a vision to reconnect, reinvigorate, and strengthen our town. Driven by dedicated volunteers and local support, the association has led a wave of projects that celebrate our history, culture, and resilience.
Further help thanks to generous grants and support from from Mount Barker District Council, Mount Barker Community Centre, Reclink Australia, Bendigo Bank, The Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal & SA Power have helped us bring our Brukunga Community Hall back to life!
The revival has seen:
✅ The return of community events and gatherings
✅ New opportunities for arts, culture, and education
✅ Increased collaboration between locals, businesses, and organizations
✅ Improvements to the Brukunga Community Hall building and surrounds including lighting and electrical work to improve safety and security, repainting, permanent historical mural installed, new furniture & equipment for hall and event use including audiovisual screens and a surround sound system.
Brukunga Hall: From Gathering Place to Thriving Hub
Our Hall to Hub Project is the centerpiece of this revival. The hall, once underutilized, is being transformed into a modern, welcoming space for:
🏡 Community meetings & social gatherings – A place for residents to come together, share ideas, and build connections.
🎨 Workshops & creative spaces – Supporting local artists, makers, and creatives with spaces to learn and showcase their talents.
📚 Education & wellbeing programs – Hosting sessions that empower residents through skills training, health initiatives, and support networks.
🥳 Events & celebrations – Bringing people together for everything from family fun days, historical milestone celebrations to movie nights.
